Been awhile

Guess I've been slacking in the blogging world. My dad had surgery last Thurs and everything went smoothly and now he's on the mend. They believe it was contained and hadn't spread to the nodes, so that was exactly what we wanted to hear!

It's still wet here in Iowa, but might be a light at the end of the tunnel. However, those downstream from us aren't fairing too well. Sounds like the Mississippi river will be flooding sometime in the next few weeks down stream. Not to mention that Des Moines, Cedar Falls/Waterloo, and Iowa City are all flooding and closing major highways and interstates. We have had a wet basement, but just thankful the whole house isn't flooded or floating away (that house in WI.. AMAZING.. i can only imagine what those homeowners were feeling every time someone replayed that footage) Don't get me wrong, our wet basement is annoying to say the least. ESPECIALLY since our neighbors to the south are the only other ones with water in their basements. Seems to me there is something wrong with the city sewer lines. We will be talking with the city in the next couple weeks to find out what is going on. We can't leave the house for extended periods of time, in fear that it will flood.

Enough complaining from me. Mason and Mallory are doing great. Mason has had to be inside due to all the rain, so that's been hard on my VERY ACTIVE little boy. BUT he has gotten out a few hours here and there to play some baseball. That is his new favorite thing to do, but only with Daddy. For some reason he thinks 'Mommy can't play baseball'. Guess it gets me out of playing baseball with him from sun up to sun down. He also likes to 'mow' the yard. This day he was out pushing around his little mower and acting like daddy. I thought he was mowing, but he quickly pointed out that he was "spreading fertilizer out the back right here". If only he was really spreading fertilizer AND mowing the lawn!!! Kids sure do say the darnedest things don't they

I finally changed my ring tones in my phone to something more fun then the generic Verizon ring. In doing so, I changed the tone for my mom to be Go Cubs Go. She is a Cubs FANATIC!!! I don't think she has missed watching a game since 1980. (OK, i might be exaggerating a little, but not much) I love baseball/softball, but watching a baseball game every night for 200 days a year, is a little much for me. But not for mom, if she isn't watching it live, she is taping it. Course she had to subscribe to the Comcast channel since that is where most of their games are televised!! But, this could be the year!!! *S* Back to my ring tone... so when mom calls me now (which has only been about three times since i changed the tone) , i get to hear that lovely song. I do like it, but its getting a little annoying now. Only because Mason thinks he has to sing it 100 times in the same breath. Once he gets started on it, he won't stop singing the chorus. Course if i had a cool camera, I'd video tape him and show ya... BUT hopefully I'll have my new camera in a couple weeks, and can get that posted for you all to see. So stay tuned for Mason LIVE.. should be a treat!!! Needless to say, I might just have to change my ringtone back to the generic just to save my ears from hearing Mason sing that song.

Mallory's hair is almost long enough.. but not quite. Still had to give this a try. She never even squealed with all that pulling of the hair. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to have a little girl who likes me fixing her hair.

We are headed to my parents for the holiday weekend. Mason always has fun 'working' around the farm. And it's to be a dry weekend, so that makes it even better!!!

Good post! It had been too long! ;) What? Do you have a baby or something?

Glad to hear the prognosis on your dad is good - that's a relief.

Great pictures of the kids!

Have a fun weekend home. Your mom reminds me of my grandma Bev. It's hard to imagine being that crazy for a ball team, but the Cubbies have that effect on so many!
