Fun Day Out

What a day we had, or should i say what a day MASON had!!! Today we went to Ankeny to The Playground (a place that has a bunch of inflatables/slides/basketball hoops). Lets just say Mason was in BOY HEAVEN there. The photos basically tell it all (Thanks Leslie for letting me 'borrow' some of your photos to share here :) )
Ryan and Mason (same age)
Take note of Mason's shirt... Couldn't have been more fitting for him today!!!!

Ryan and Mason playing airhockey, while Aiden looks on

Can you see the sweat on his face?!?!?

Notice, he is NOT sitting on a chair!!!!

The Boys
Aiden, Ryan and Mason (Aiden is a little younger, but only a few months) If they were all dressed the same and out playing, you wouldn't be able to tell who was who, especially from behind.
THREE PEAS IN A POD
All us Moms and our kiddos (notice the three amigos in the front)
Just thought I'd also point this out. In that last photo. the little girl on the far left (Aubrey.. she's a doll) just turned 1.. and well Mallory, she just turned 5 months. Lets just say I've got a big little girl on my hands!!! *S*
We had a great day today. Ran a few errands after playing for a little over 2 hours this morning and got home around 7pm. Long busy day, but so much fun. Mason should be sleeping well tonight. I wonder if we did that everyday, if he would actually start to settle down a little and actually 'rest' a little more!! HAHA wishful thinking I know

Monday

Just another typical Monday in our house. Had a fairly productive weekend and got quite a bit done on our basement bathroom that has been in disarray since the august 2007 flooding. Just need to let the texture dry and then we will be ready to paint, install floor, trim, vanity, toilet, and shower curtain. Thank goodness we have two bathrooms and we didn't have to use this bathroom the last 8 months!!! Sunday I actually got to go shopping/errand running by MYSELF! its amazing how much one can get done when you don't have to tote around a car seat and a toddler that likes to run off. I came home with something for EVERYONE. That rarely every happens, its usually just something for the kids, but this time we all got something. With spring/summer right around the corner, it was about time we start getting a few springy things.

Today it was too cold to be outside, so Mason didn't get to get out, even though about every half hour he asked if he could go out. I didn't feel like pulling out the snowsuit so he could stay a little warmer. So we stayed in and played.

I still have those pesky hives. Still have no idea what caused them, and frankly, I'm ready for them to leave!!! Just talking about them makes me itch.
This was taken 2 years ago in April 2006!! Boy is he getting big!!!!

HIVES!!

So I wake up this morning scratchin' and itchin' and a scratchin' and an itchin', only to look in the mirror and i'm covered in red welts. I've had hives before, so I knew what it was. BUT I've never had them so bad that my scalp itched. I think I lost about a pound of hair brushing with my hair brush to get that pesky itch (ok, so i can stand to lose a little hair and you would never notice it was missing). I took an antihistamine and after about an hour, it had kicked in and i was scratchin' a lot less. It was a pill that you are to take every 24 hours, so then why 12 hours later am I'm scratchin' just as hard as I was when I woke up and am covered in welts AGAIN??? So I broke down and took another pill, even though it says not to. I figure whats the worst that can happen to me, i fall asleep earlier then my normal late bedtime (well, thats not the case cause I'm still up now posting this ) So does anyone out there have a magical cure for these things? I feel like I just want to go roll on a bed of nails to get that itch!!! I know it has to run its course, and hopefully its a short course and not a couple week ordeal.

Now I can empathize with Mason, who has eczema and is itching all the time, even with us putting lotion on him twice a day. Poor little guy. It does usually get a little better in the summer when he is in the sun, so we do have that to look forward to.

Guess I'd better go to bed before this pill wears off and I wake up itching after 12 hours!!!

Just another dreary day

So April showers BETTER bring some May flowers. I feel like it has rained enough this month that everything should be in bloom by May 1st! Guess we need some sun to make that happen though.

Mallory went back to the Dr today for a 5 month check up. I know, you normally don't have a check up at the 5th month, that is unless you are Mallory and you have a big brain!! She had to go in to have her head measured. Dr Jill wanted to make sure that it was leveling off with the curve and not continuing to grow at a faster rate of speed. And I can say PRAISE THE LORD as her head only grew a cm in the past month, and not 2 cm, which would have put her on the upward slide instead of leveling off. Ok, easier to look at the graph then it is to explain it. What I'm basically saying is there is no need to worry that there might be fluid there, and that she is just gonna have a big head, um I mean big brain!!! The Dr seemed happy with the results and said there was nothing to worry about (we had a CT scan back in January and that was clear, so we knew there was no tumor growth, but the fluid is a little harder to detect on those scans) So we will go back in a month for her 6th month checkup which will be the whole gamete of shots and such. Not looking forward to that as she is usually crabby for a couple days afterwards even with the tylenol.

Thought I'd leave you with a picture of Mason at his finest over Thanksgiving 2007.

Wordless Wednesday

Thanks to Bingo~Bonnie for the inspiration for the Wordless Wednesday. She does them occasionally on her blog and I thought what a great way to post on the blog and not have to say much. (She is also the one who gave me the Shelfari idea.. such a cool little gizmo!! ) So here is the first of hopefully many Wordless Wednesdays

Busy day...

Its Monday and I'm not sure why they have to be so busy, but they always are. The laundry just keeps piling up. Just when I think I'm ahead of the game and get a couple loads done, I've got three more loads the next day. How does laundry multiply like that?

Today is our bimonthly MOPS Monday, so Mason gets to get out and play with other little kiddos his age, and Mallory gets to be with the other babies and grandmas. Mason always has a great time and looks forward to the boys and girls there. And since it was such a nice early afternoon, we were outside most of the day in the sandbox and on his big wheel.

My new found craft has been tatting (like a I really need another hobby). My aunt LeaAnn and I had taken a mini class at the Iowa State Fair a few years back on shuttle tatting. So we learned the basics there and then I came home and had forgotten everything. But recently the HGTV message board I frequent, HGTV Message Board a member started a thread about Needle Tatting, so that sparked the interest to pull out my shuttles and thread and see what I could do. After a little searching on the net for some videos to refresh my memory on how to shuttle tat, I've figured it out. This was one of the first things I did. Just an angel out of size 10 crochet thread

This one was done with varigated size 80 dmc (the finest thread there is)

And this is the last thing I've done using handdyed varigated size 80 thread

The nice thing about tatting is its portable and I don't have to be at my sewing machine to actually make something. Not exactly sure what I'm going to do with the things I'm making, but I'm having fun doing it. I do need to get back to quilting and making bags, but getting to my sewing machine is a harder task now with the two little ones.

Our week is off to a great start. Now if the weather can be nice atleast part of the day the rest of the week, there will be one happy little boy (and mom *S*)

I took the plunge

Well I've decided to join the world of bloggers!! I love reading blogs, so will see if I can keep mine up to date and intersting, if not entertaining. (We all know with a toddler in the house, there is never a dull moment)

If you are reading this, please leave me comments (there is an icon you can click on at the end of my posts) so I know you are actually reading this and I'm not typing it for typing practice *S*

I'm basically wanting to use this as a form of getting pictures out to everyone that actually wants to see them, and not bore those that could care less. And to let ya'll know what we've been doing with ourselves. Who knows, maybe ya'll will learn a little something about us that you didn't know before.

And with that being said, I hope ya'll enjoy 'My Nikkel's Worth'
