April...

So my son's new favorite thing to play is 'guns'.. being that I'm a girl, and have only sisters, I don't understand the whole 'playing guns' thing. It's taking a lot out of me to be able to 'accept' that its just a boy thing, and that he is gonna do it (his father did when he was little, so why shouldn't our son ?!?! ) SO what better way than to sit back and watch, than to just join in!! Sister loves to play now too!!!! :(

And who can turn away a bouquet of flowers from your favorite children? Not me, so we put them in water and they lived.... ahem... a few minutes :)

FINALLY its been nice enough to put the clothes on the line to dry!! Nothing better sun dried clothes. Doesn't heat my house up, and the clothes smell so good when they come inside!! I could only be Amish in the summer time.. something about freeze drying your clothes doesn't sound all too appealing to me

My favorite flower was in bloom for a very short time! And I only have about 25 plants, of which only about 5 of them had blooms. I LOVE lilly of the valley and wish they bloomed longer and that I had a whole garden full of them. Guess I'll just have to enjoy the bouquets my Mother in law gives me, as she has a patch to die for!!!!! But then again, her patch is probably about 30 years old, and mine is well, maybe 3 :) Don't think we will be in this house for another 27 years to get the big patch like her, so I can only hope our next house already has a big established patch just waiting for me

The Wilson's

Back in March the kids and I got the pleasure of watching 2 of the cutest little girls!! J was 3 (is 4 now, as she had a birthday the beginning of April) and A is 1 1/2 (almost exactly a year younger than Mallory). The kids had a ball, and Mallory enjoyed dressing up. Guess its time to find some more girly things for this house filled with tractors and cars !!!

A giving me her big smile while not quite sure if she wants to walk or get back down and crawl :)

I got the three younger ones to actually all take a nap, and after they got up from naps, they were still in la la land.. they watched a little tv, but then were right back to playing with all the toys!!!
J was insistent that we go outside to find 'Princess Mobobile' or something along those lines.. so she got all dressed and kept wanting to out the front door. I didn't let her, being the bad sitter that I am, and she wasn't very happy about that. Had she wanted to go in the FENCED in back yard, I would have abliged. BUT she was wanting to walk the sidewalks out front, and I didn't want their neighbors wondering if there was anyone watching these kids, or if they were just fending for themselves for the day!
The minute her daddy got home, she wanted to go out. And I'm told he did take them both out for a walk after we left, so she did finally get to go on her search :)

We had a great afternoon with the girls

So I was just sitting here looking thru the videos I have of the kids, and came across the following one. My sister Darcy took the video one Saturday when she was watching the kids for me. Darcy is sure she says 'pixie dust' in there.. see if you can hear it :) Amazing how much her hair has grown in only 5 months!!!

Misc February and March

We had plenty of snow this winter, and February was no exception. The kids loved playing out in it, if only it wasn't so cold. We had so many cold cold days, that playing out in the snow for longer than 15 minutes was out of the question. That ends up being an hour ordeal by the time you get them both dressed and out the door and then back in and undressed and in dry clothes!!

A sign it was finally melting when the icicles started thawing. This is the 1st year we have had them, and I'm sure it was due to the fact that we still had our Christmas icicle lights up, in which helped form them. Mason wanted to have them all.. but I did let him have one :)

Mason had a school Valentine party this year. And while the traditional valentines are fun, I thought why not make our own! So I cut out some hearts, Mason stamped different stamps on them, he wrote his name over 20 times, taped the m&m's to the hearts.. and then I made two bigger ones for the teacher and his 'grandma' that helps out in the room. He had fun making them.

The beginning of March, we met three other families for a weekend of swimming and a museum and just hanging out with friends. Mallory loved the children's museum in Iowa City.. I think she would have spent all day there if I'd of had the patience to sit and watch her play for hours and hours!!!!

Our hotel was in the Amana's and they had two big waterslides that Mason absolutely loved. I thought for sure he would be scared, as they were tunnel shaped, enclosed, and not much light.. but he came out at the bottom beaming every time, and climbed the stairs to do it again. He even got his daddy to go down them a couple times.. but not me!!!

The kids really like to help me bake. I know I should have more patience and let them help me more, but most of the time, I just want to get it done and clean up. I am getting better however

Can you tell what part he likes best?!?! Like Mother like son!!!!

Its a sad sad day when I put on size 6 jammies on Mason, and they are too small :( Really, where did my toe headed footed jammie wearing cuddle bug go?!?! He's getting taller, and I'm not quite ready for that

Mallory loves to 'read' now.. and Magic school bus is one of our favorite books/movies/shows. I'm glad they enjoy books/movies that are educational along with entertaining... Mallory is about the same age in this picture as Mason was in the above picture in his sweat suit sitting in the recliner ( They look a little alike, but still quite a bit different )

Kids 1st skiing adventure

The beginning of March, we decided that since the snow was melting and it was actually pretty nice outside, we would take the kids to the ski area (we had to drive a whole 5 minutes.. pretty sad this is the 1st time in the 5 years that we have lived here that we have actually went there.. guess it didn't help our kids have been pretty little the last 5 years and we weren't quite ready to tackle teaching them to ski )
Mason was pretty excited about it, course Mallory had no idea what was going on.

She did get on skis, but never did go down the hill..just stood there and watched the people, sung to the music over the PA, and talked to anyone skiing by that would listen. She does look pretty cute though doesn't she :)

Got Mason's skis on and Tony helped him closer to the tow rope and then he put his skis on. It didn't take Mason long to catch on. He might have fell one time coming down the 1st time, then a couple times the next time down, and then I think after that, the only time he fell was on the tow rope. AND I even almost fell hanging on to that thing. I had forgotten how hard it is to hold your own weight and be pulled up a hill!! My back let me know about it the next day :)

Not the best picture, but doesn't he have great form :)

A little video.. hard to video, take pictures, watch a 2 year old, stand on skis AND not fall over :) So didn't get many photos, but we did have a great time and I know we will be on the slopes more than one time next winter!!! I love winter, but we can wait about 9 months for some snow skiing

Need a laugh for the day?

Thought I'd share a video from back in January that I took of the kids.. never a dull moment around here. Looks like they both got their parents 'rhythm' :)
